Position Overview:
As a Business Development Manager at Feldkamp Mechanical, you will play a crucial role in leading sales efforts and managing key client accounts within the water and wastewater treatment industry. Your primary responsibilities will include establishing and nurturing relationships at all organizational levels to showcase our services and convert them into engineering, procurement, and construction solutions. You will work closely with a diverse client base, stay attuned to market trends, and assemble the right teams to deliver innovative solutions. Responsibilities:
- Engage with Clients and Partners: Establish a sales pipeline and achieve capture goals by engaging with clients, vendors, partners, and third-party engineers.
- Relationship Management: Maintain key relationships with clients from C-Suite to operational levels.
- Strategic Insight: Use industry contacts to understand client organizations and formulate winning strategies.
- Cold Calling: Conduct cold calls to access new clients and markets.
- Client Visits and Presentations: Lead visits and presentations with stakeholders less familiar with the sales process.
- Conference Engagement: Represent the company at industry conferences, collaborating with management and marketing.
- Thought Leadership: Participate as a subject matter expert in the water market, engaging in associations and conferences.
- Content Development: Guide engineering and marketing in creating content and collateral.
- Go/No-Go Discussions: Coordinate pursuit decisions with management, preparing white papers.
- CRM Management: Keep the sales pipeline in the CRM accurate and updated.
- Pursuit Coordination: Work with managers to achieve pursuit goals and incorporate customer feedback.
- Proposal Input: Contribute to bid strategies, value propositions, and proposal preparations.
- Account Planning: Develop account plans during annual business planning.
- Competitive Analysis: Monitor competitors and report insights to business leaders.
- Business Development Meetings: Participate in regular meetings and progress calls.
- Management Responsibilities: Influence teams and stakeholders without direct oversight.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction, business, or related field.
- 5-10 years of proven business development experience in the HVAC/MEP industry.
- Successful track record as a Business Development Manager in construction, focusing on mechanical contracting and HVAC.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship skills.
- Strong leadership qualities to motivate teams and clients.
- Proficiency in MS Office/Google, AutoCAD, Primavera P6 Scheduler.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to access and navigate construction sites.
- OHSA 30 – Construction certification.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Effective communication and professionalism.
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely.
- Work during normal hours, with flexibility for overtime and weekends.
- Work at various locations; conditions may vary.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Office environment with normal lighting; low to moderate noise.
- At work sites, exposure to humid conditions, mechanical parts, heights, weather, and loud noise.
- Must be able to stand, walk, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform physical tasks as described.
