Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Account Manager to drive profitable growth across an assigned territory within the industrial water treatment sector. This role will focus on developing new business, expanding existing accounts, improving customer retention, and delivering strong commercial outcomes.

The successful candidate will act as the main point of contact for customers, providing strategic account guidance, identifying growth opportunities, and working closely with internal technical and operational teams to ensure customer needs are met. This is a commercially focused role requiring strong technical understanding of industrial water treatment applications, including cooling water, boiler water, and basic wastewater treatment.

Key Responsibilities
Revenue Growth & Account Development
  • Drive year-on-year revenue growth through prospecting, new business development, and account expansion.
  • Identify opportunities to upsell and cross-sell products and services within existing and new accounts.
  • Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline, ensuring accurate forecasting and regular opportunity tracking.
  • Develop long-term relationships with customers to support retention and account growth.
Profitability & Commercial Management
  • Manage product mix in line with customer requirements and profitability targets.
  • Support and execute strategic pricing initiatives, including annual price reviews.
  • Identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency and account profitability.
  • Monitor account performance against revenue, gross profit, and margin expectations.
Account Retention & Relationship Management
  • Act as the primary point of contact for assigned customer accounts.
  • Build relationships across multiple levels, including operations, procurement, engineering, and site leadership.
  • Conduct regular business reviews to assess value delivered, service performance, and future opportunities.
  • Proactively identify and resolve potential customer satisfaction or retention risks.
Technical Service & Application Support
  • Monitor application performance and support testing to ensure optimal results.
  • Troubleshoot process or treatment-related issues in collaboration with technical and service teams.
  • Prepare accurate service reports, account updates, and customer documentation.
  • Support the management and reliability of customer equipment to maintain service quality and uptime.
  • Meet or exceed sales, gross profit, and margin targets across the assigned territory.
  • Support credit limit reviews and assist with resolving overdue receivables.
  • Ensure account activity aligns with contractual obligations and commercial objectives.
  • Manage account-related costs effectively in line with profitability goals.
Internal Collaboration
  • Work closely with customer service, planning, laboratory, R&D, supply chain, and field service teams.
  • Coordinate internally to ensure customer needs are met and service standards are maintained.
  • Support broader commercial strategies through clear communication and collaboration.
Requirements
  • 7–9+ years of experience in industrial water treatment, chemical sales, technical sales, account management, or application support.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial water treatment processes, particularly cooling water and boiler water treatment.
  • Basic knowledge of wastewater treatment, including coagulation and flocculation.
  • Proven experience selling or applying chemical products within industrial environments.
  • Strong relationship management, prospecting, and account development skills.
  • Demonstrable track record of achieving sales targets and retaining key accounts.
  • Ability to manage a defined territory and prioritise multiple customer requirements.
  • Strong commercial awareness, including pricing, margins, profitability, and account planning.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and customer-facing skills.
  • Results-driven with a strong focus on commercial performance.
  • Customer-focused with the ability to build trusted long-term relationships.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills.
  • Collaborative approach with the ability to work across internal teams.

Preferred Experience
  • Experience working with industrial manufacturing, process, chemical, food and beverage, power, refining, pulp and paper, or similar heavy industrial customers.
  • Knowledge of CRM systems and sales pipeline management.
  • Experience managing both technical service expectations and commercial account growth.
  • Familiarity with water treatment equipment, dosing systems, testing, and service reporting.
