Job summary

Cooper Standard seeks a results-driven Commercial Manager to drive profitable growth with key customers. You will lead cross-functional teams including Engineering, Operations, Purchasing and Cost Estimating to develop and defend quotes, manage pricing, and pursue new business opportunities.

Travel to manufacturing facilities and customer sites will be required, and you will mentor Sales Analysts while maintaining partnerships and ensuring quotes are competitive and delivered on time.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business administration or engineering.
  • Five+ years with Industrial customers and autonomous in new business pursuit and customer management.
  • Understanding of OEM manufacturing and assembly environments.
  • Technical knowledge to discuss product capabilities.
  • Ability to articulate complex ideas and communicate effectively with customers and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to make decisions on customer requests varying from program support to profit margin, which affects long term profitability.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with exceptional negotiating abilities.
  • Project management skills are desired with excellent ability to prioritize, multitask and organize.
  • Ability to articulate complex business case proposals to internal and external management.
  • Strong, polished presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Willingness and ability to travel, as necessary

Responsibilities

  • Execute strategic plan for the customer and/or product to achieve profitable growth.
  • Prepare and lead the new business strategy and lead the cross functional teams to achieve customer business awards.
  • Build and maintain a network of customer contacts to uncover potential new programs and product opportunities
  • Monitor competitor activity and relevant market trends to help identify potential areas for growth.
  • Conduct outreach to prospective customer contacts and follow up on potential leads.
  • Partner with internal teams to evaluate the feasibility and profitability of potential new business.
  • Contribute to management of customer business plan or productivity programs internally and externally
  • Work with Engineering, Operations, Purchasing and Cost Estimating to ensure quotes are competitive, accurate and submitted on time for customer and/or product
  • Maintains part pricing matrix, closure of all open financial/economic issues and coordinating part transfers
  • Track and monitor progression on raw material pricing and other economic agreements (ie. amortizations)
  • Lead and develop cross-functional customer relationships with all disciplines
  • Develop cross-functional internal relationships (Sales, Engineering, Operations, Purchasing, Cost Estimating, etc.)
  • Develop and lead price negotiations with the customer ensuring consistency at the customer level
  • Support and mentor Sales Analysts
  • Understands and properly utilizes internal systems and procedures such as Windchill, enterProj, Ebiz, SAP, , TeamCenter and SharePoint
  • May, on occasion, be required to perform duties other than those specified in this description
