Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in Project Management or Account Management in the contract furniture industry.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience.
  • Prior experience with a commercial furniture dealer strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of commercial furniture, interior construction, facilities management, or furniture manufacturing.
  • Understanding of the complexities and requirements of the commercial furniture industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and furniture floor plans.
  • Experience preparing polished quotes from multiple manufacturers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.

Job description

Position Summary

As an Account Manager serving the San Francisco Bay Area, you will play a key role in managing client relationships and leading commercial furniture projects from initial concept through successful completion. Working closely with clients, The Collective, Account Management, Sales, Design, Project Management, and other internal and external partners, you will serve as a primary point of contact and ensure customer requests, project deliverables, and timelines are managed effectively.

This position requires a highly organized, customer-focused professional who can manage multiple complex projects simultaneously while balancing client expectations, project requirements, budgets, and deadlines. The ideal candidate understands the commercial furniture industry and is comfortable working with clients, designers, manufacturers, general contractors, construction managers, and other project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
Client & Account Management
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned clients and projects.
  • Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients and key industry partners, including Architecture & Design (A&D), General Contractors (GCs), Construction Managers (CMs), and other industry professionals.
  • Provide a high level of customer service throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Attend client meetings and project presentations with appropriate internal team members.
  • Participate in project interviews and presentations as required.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen and grow key accounts and relationships.
Project Management
  • Lead and coordinate projects from initial planning through final completion.
  • Program and manage large, complex projects involving multiple vendors, locations, stakeholders, and deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain project calendars, schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to ensure projects remain on schedule and client expectations are met.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and proactively develop solutions.
  • Conduct on-site field measurements, site surveys, and project assessments as needed.
  • Maintain clear and timely communication among clients, internal teams, manufacturers, vendors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Be accountable for the successful execution, financial performance, and customer satisfaction of assigned projects and accounts.
Sales, Pricing & Business Development
  • Prepare accurate, timely, and professional furniture pricing and quotes for clients.
  • Partner with Sales and internal teams to develop budgets, bids, proposals, and presentations.
  • Assemble comprehensive quotes incorporating pricing from multiple furniture manufacturers.
  • Support the development of furniture packages, including thought starters, look-and-feel concepts, and product selections, in collaboration with the Design team.
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing accounts and develop new business relationships.
Order & Internal Coordination
  • Provide complete, accurate, and timely information to Account Coordinators to facilitate furniture orders.
  • Work closely with internal project management and operations teams to ensure orders and project requirements are properly communicated and executed.
  • Monitor projects through ordering, delivery, installation, and completion to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Participate in product training and continuing education to maintain current knowledge of manufacturers, products, and industry trends.
Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of experience in Project Management, Account Management, or a related role; contract furniture industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience.
  • Prior experience with a commercial furniture dealer preferred.
  • Working knowledge of commercial furniture, interior construction, facilities management, or furniture manufacturing.
  • Understanding of the complexities and requirements of the commercial furniture industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and furniture floor plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare polished, accurate quotes incorporating pricing from multiple manufacturers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Creative, resourceful, and solutions-oriented approach to complex projects.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments and with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Interior design experience or background is a plus.
  • A proactive "roll up your sleeves" attitude and willingness to take ownership of projects and overcome obstacles.
  • Must be located in the San Francisco Bay Area.
