Job summary

Social Habit Marketing, a Houston-based agency, seeks an Associate Social Media Marketer. This hybrid contract role involves developing content ideas, writing captions, and planning reels, Stories, and photos for multiple client accounts.

You’ll attend client shoots 2–3 days/week in The Heights, and may appear on camera. We value initiative, collaboration, and a strong portfolio; college is preferred but relevant experience matters more.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Associate Social Media Marketer

We’re looking for someone who genuinely loves social media and content creation and wants to build a career doing it.

This role is for someone who is creative, organized, knows what’s trending, and understands that good social media is about more than making something look nice. You should be able to take an idea from concept to execution, whether that means planning a Reel, writing a caption, helping direct a shoot, or figuring out why a piece of content performed well.

You’ll work across several different client accounts, so every day will look a little different.

We’re a collaborative team and move pretty quickly. There’s a lot of room to bring your own ideas to the table, try new things, and take ownership of your work. We want someone who can work well with a team but is also comfortable taking initiative and running with an idea.

What You'll Be Doing

• Coming up with content ideas and helping turn them into actual posts
• Writing captions and social copy that sound like the brand, not like every other account online
• Planning and helping direct Reels, TikToks, Stories, and photo content
• Attending client content shoots and helping capture what we need
• Occasionally appearing on camera when it makes sense for the content
• Communicating with clients about content, ideas, goals, and upcoming deliverables
• Reviewing social performance and using those insights to improve future content
• Staying current on trends, sounds, formats, and changes across social platforms
• Using CapCut, Canva, ChatGPT, and other tools to make the content process more efficient
• Engaging with online communities and paying attention to what audiences are actually responding to

You Might Be a Good Fit if

• You have at least one year of social media or content marketing experience
• You’ve managed social accounts for a brand, business, organization, or client
• You know your way around Instagram, TikTok, Reels, Stories, and short form content
• You’re comfortable filming and editing video
• You can write a strong caption without needing someone to completely rewrite it
• You’re organized enough to manage several clients and deadlines at once
• You’re comfortable talking with clients and contributing ideas during meetings and shoots
• You pay attention to details
• You’re willing to jump in and help when things move quickly
• You keep up with social media because you actually enjoy it

College education is preferred, but relevant experience and a strong body of work matter more to us.

Portfolio is Required

We want to see the work you’ve actually created.

Your portfolio should include:

• Reels, TikToks, or other short form video content
• Examples of captions or social copy you’ve written
• Any shot lists, content plans, mood boards, creative direction, or similar work that helps show us how you think about content

It doesn’t need to be a fancy website. A Canva portfolio, Google Drive folder, PDF, or similar format is completely fine as long as we can easily review your work.

Schedule

This is a hybrid role based in Houston.

You’ll typically be in our office in The Heights or on location for client shoots 2 to 3 days per week.

There may occasionally be weekend shoots or content days depending on client needs. We’ll provide notice whenever possible.

Growth

We’re looking for someone who wants to grow with the agency. For the right person, there is an opportunity for this position to develop into a full time role with more client ownership and leadership responsibilities.

Compensation is based on experience and ranges from $40,000 to $60,000 per year.
