Job summary

Golin Ketchum in Chicago is seeking an Account Executive for the Purpose team to help companies make lasting social and environmental impact. You’ll serve as day-to-day client contact, manage campaigns, and coordinate events, writing clear client communications and media materials.

The ideal candidate has 2–3 years of PR experience, a bachelor’s degree, strong writing, and the ability to work closely with senior staff on fast-paced programs.

Qualifications

• Two to three years of communications experience in a PR agency, nonprofit, consultancy or in-house setting.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Act as a day-to-day client contact; foster client–agency relationship to build trust.
• Plan and implement account activities including events, media relations, social media, briefings, program execution.
• Develop written materials: client correspondence, press releases, media pitches, reports.
• Understand clients’ business and competitive environments to inform communications.
• Coordinate research methods and resources.
• Collaborate within the account team and utilize agency resources.
• Manage teams and cross-functional collaborators; manage up when needed.
• Experience in social or environmental impact communications is preferred, passion required.

What You’ll Do:

Are you ready to make an impact? Our Purpose team is seeking a fearless, collaborative Account Executive with a passion for helping companies make lasting social and environmental positive impact. This is a unique opportunity to work with several high-profile clients and fabulous colleagues to do meaningful work. The ideal candidate is a project manager extraordinaire, a strong writer, pays close attention to detail, curious about new topics and full of positive energy.

• Act as a day-to-day client contact; continually foster client-agency relationship to build trust and become a valuable resource to clients
• Play key role in planning and implementation of account activities, including special events, media events, media relations, social media, desk-side briefings, program implementation, etc.
• Effectively develop full range of written materials including client correspondence, press releases, media pitches, reports, etc.
• Continually build understanding and knowledge of clients’ business and competitive environments; apply this information in preparing and presenting client communications
• Develop an understanding of research methods, coordinate internal and external resources
• Be flexible and facilitate teamwork within account team while fully utilizing agency resources to create the “best teams” for your clients
• Be adept at managing teams, managing cross-functionally and managing up
• While experience working in the area of social or environmental impact communications is preferred, a passion for the specialty is a must!

What You Have:

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skills and knowledge for successful performance would qualify. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

• Two to three years of communications experience in a public relations agency, nonprofit, consultancy or in-house setting
• Bachelor’s degree preferred

Omnicom’s policy requires employees to work in the office for a minimum of three days a week, unless additional in-office days are directed by their agency or manager. Our objective is to increase this requirement over time, and many of our agencies as well as Omnicom’s corporate group already require five days of in-office attendance.
