Job summary

UES, a national leader in geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, and materials testing, seeks an Account Executive II to drive profitable growth by developing new opportunities and expanding client relationships in the AEC market.

You will develop strategic sales plans, build relationships with key decision-makers, manage leads and proposals, and coordinate with regional teams to deliver client-focused solutions. Travel up to 70% is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Finance, Statistics, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of prior sales and business development experience, preferably in the AEC industry.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required; relevant industry certifications preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.
  • Strong relationship-building, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in basic math and data analysis to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Solid understanding of the construction industry and related regulatory environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute territory and account strategies designed to achieve revenue, growth and profitability goals.
  • Manage existing customer accounts and actively pursue new business opportunities.
  • Generate sales leads aligned with company growth objectives.
  • Provide documentation and communication to support execution of projects.
  • Establish and sustain a visible presence with clients to support the sales cycle.
  • Attend marketing and networking events and meetings as needed.
  • Collaborate with regional managers and other Account Executives to meet goals.
  • Plan visits with clients and assist in proposals preparation and delivery.
  • Respond to client inquiries and elevate concerns to stakeholders.
  • Solicit client feedback on project satisfaction and identify future needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of pricing, bids, and proprietary information.
  • Track leads, opportunities, contacts, proposals, and sales goals in CRM.
  • Lead opportunities through the business development lifecycle from prospecting to close.
  • Identify cross-sell opportunities and introduce additional service lines.
  • Follow up on submitted proposals and participate in required sales meetings.

Position Overview

The Account Executive II is responsible for driving profitable growth by developing new business opportunities, expanding existing client relationships, and strengthening the company's presence within the AEC market. This is a client-facing, result driven role for an experienced business development professional who understands how projects are pursued, awarded, and delivered within the AEC industry. The Account Executive II will develop and execute strategic sales plans, build relationships within key decision-makers, identify upcoming project opportunities, and position the company's technical capabilities to meet client needs.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute territory and account strategies designed to achieve established revenue, growth and profitability goals.
  • Manage existing customer accounts and actively pursue new business opportunities.
  • Generate sales leads aligned with company growth objectives.
  • Provide documentation and communication to support the timely and accurate execution of projects.
  • Establish and sustain a visible presence with new and existing clients to support the sales cycle and foster client trust.
  • Attend marketing and networking events, including those outside of standard business hours.
  • Collaborate with Regional, Branch, and Department Managers, and fellow Account Executives to meet team and company goals.
  • Plan, schedule, and conduct visits with clients and prospective clients, and assist in the preparation and delivery of proposals.
  • Respond promptly to client inquiries and elevate concerns to the appropriate internal stakeholders.
  • Solicit client feedback on project satisfaction and identify potential future needs.
  • Ensure confidentiality regarding client pricing, bids, and proprietary information.
  • Track and manage leads, opportunities, contacts, proposals, and sales goals in a CRM or tracking system.
  • Lead opportunities throughout the busines development lifecycle, from initial prospecting and qualification through proposal, negotiation, and close.
  • Identify opportunities to cross-sell and introduce additional service lines to existing clients.
  • Follow up on submitted proposals.
  • Participate in required internal sales meetings.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Finance, Statistics, or a related field preferred.

Travel Requirements

This position requires extensive travel, approximately up to 70% of the time, in support of business objectives and client engagements. Travel may be both scheduled and on short notice, depending on project needs. Destinations typically include job sites, field locations, or regional offices, where work may be conducted in outdoor or operational environments. Adherence to all company safety protocols and use of PPE is required during travel and on-site work.

Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • This position primarily operates in a professional office environment, requiring the ability to work at a desk for extended periods while using a computer, phone, and standard office equipment.
  • The position involves sitting for extended periods, performing data entry, and engaging in frequent communication via email, phone, and in-person interactions.
  • The role involves regular communication with team members, clients, and stakeholders, both in person and through virtual platforms.
  • The physical demands of the job may include occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting of office materials up to 15 pounds.
