Travel Percentage: 20%

Reports To: Director of Business Development

Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Salary: $110,000 - $125,000

The Role

The Account Director will oversee partnership deliverables for the StoryCorps Studios + Brand Partnerships department. They will lead a team of two Account Managers, managing client relationships and ensuring seamless execution of projects including sponsorships, storytelling partnerships, and fee-for-service opportunities. The role involves managing a portfolio of high-visibility partnerships and requires a proactive leader skilled in client management, strategic execution, and project management.

The Account Director will also lead a team of talented Account Managers to ensure high-quality client service and achievement of project objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Client & Account Management (70%)
  • Serve as the primary contact for a portfolio of key clients, ensuring the smooth execution of engagements.
  • Oversee end-to-end recording and production projects, meeting client goals and timelines.
  • Maintain strong client retention and satisfaction, identifying growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Production, Programs, and Business Development teams for project success.
  • Manage client deliverables, contracts, and invoicing in collaboration with Legal and Finance.
  • Utilize CRM (Salesforce) and project management tools (Asana) to monitor relationships and deliverables.
  • Lead campaign wrap reports and case studies with relevant stakeholders.
Team Leadership & Oversight (30%)
  • Optimize account management workflows in alignment with other teams.
  • Provide guidance on partner engagement and relationship management best practices.
  • Collaborate with various function leads to fulfill partnership and sponsor deliverables.
Required
About You
  • 8+ years in account management, client services, business development, or sponsorship.
  • 5+ years managing complex, high-value client relationships.
  • 2+ years supervising and developing teams.
  • Strong skills in managing client expectations, deliverables, and troubleshooting.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with experience presenting to senior executives.
  • Highly organized with solid project management experience.
  • Experience with contract negotiations and financial tracking.
  • Background in sponsorships, partnerships, or corporate philanthropy.
Preferred
  • Experience in media, nonprofit, or creative storytelling services.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce, Asana, or similar tools.
