Account Director, StoryCorps Studios + Brand Partnerships

Division: Revenue

Department: StoryCorps Studios + Corporate Sponsorship

Location: Remote or Brooklyn, NY

Travel Percentage: 20%
Reports To: Director of Business Development

Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Salary: $110,000 - $125,000

The Role

The Account Director will oversee partnership deliverables for the Story Corps Studios + Brand Partnerships department. They will lead a team of two Account Managers, overseeing client relationships, and ensuring the seamless execution of projects including, sponsorship, storytelling partnerships, and other fee-for-service opportunities; while also managing a portfolio of high-visibility partnerships.

This role requires a proactive leader with expertise in client management, strategic execution, and project management. The ideal candidate is skilled in managing executive-level stakeholders, cross-functional project management, delivering exceptional client experiences, and optimizing processes to drive revenue and impact and ensure long-term client retainment and renewals.

The Account Director will lead a team of talented Account Managers, ensuring they deliver high-quality client service and meet project objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Client & Account Management (70%)
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of key clients, ensuring seamless execution of StoryCorps Studios, and sponsorship engagements.
  • Oversee the end-to-end execution of recording and production projects, ensuring they meet client goals and timelines.
  • Ensure strong client retention and satisfaction, identifying opportunities for growth and renewal.
  • Work cross-functionally with Marketing, Production, Programs and Business Development teams to ensure the successful execution of projects.
  • Manage and track client deliverables, contracts, and invoicing, collaborating with Legal and Finance as needed.
  • Use CRM (Salesforce) and project management tools (Asana) to monitor client relationships and deliverables.
  • Lead campaign wrap reports case studies with relevant stakeholders (e.g. Marketing & Communications, Digital etc.)
Team Leadership & Oversight (30%)
  • Optimize account management workflows, ensuring alignment with programs, business development and production teams.
  • Provide guidance on best practices for partner engagement and relationship management.
  • Work collaboratively with function leads (national interview collocation, public support, digital, data collection, recording and archives, marketing and communications) to fulfil partnership and sponsor deliverables.

About You

Required:

  • 8+ years of experience in account management, client services, business development, and/or sponsorship.
  • 5+ years of proven success in managing complex, high-value client relationships.
  • 2+ years of experience supervising and developing a team.
  • Strong ability to navigate client expectations, manage deliverables, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to present to senior executives and senior-level clients.
  • Highly organized with strong project management experience.
  • Experience with contract negotiations and financial tracking.
  • Background in sponsorships, partnerships, and/or corporate philanthropy.

Preferred:

  • Experience in media, nonprofit, and/or creative storytelling services.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce, Asana, or similar CRM and project management tools
