Responsibilities

  • Payroll Administration: Assisting with payroll preparation and processing.
  • Payroll Administration: Reviewing payroll information for accuracy and completeness.

  • Pension Administration: Assisting with pension administration and maintaining pension-related records.
  • Pension Administration: Assisting with audits and payroll and pension reporting requirements.
  • Pension Administration: Assisting with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other accounting functions as assigned.
  • Pension Administration: Preparing spreadsheets, reports, reconciliations, and other financial documents.
  • Pension Administration: Reviewing and reconciling payroll, pension, and accounting information.
  • Data & Records Management: Entering, verifying, and maintaining financial and employee data.
  • Data & Records Management: Researching and resolving discrepancies involving payroll, pension, accounting, and employee records.
  • Confidentiality & General Administration: Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive employee, payroll, pension, and financial information.
  • Confidentiality & General Administration: Performing other related accounting and administrative duties as assigned.

POSITIONOVERVIEW:

MercerCounty Finance Department is seeking a detail-oriented and organized individualto serve as an Account Clerk supporting accounting, payroll, and pensionfunctions.

TheAccount Clerk will perform a variety of clerical and administrative dutiesinvolving financial records, employee information, payroll processing, pensionadministration, data entry, spreadsheets, and related accounting functions. Theposition will work closely with payroll and pension functions and require ahigh level of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.

Priorexperience or knowledge of payroll and pension functions is preferred but notrequired. Candidates should have the ability and willingness to learn Countypayroll and pension procedures, systems, and requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Payroll Administration
  • Assistingwith payroll preparation and processing.
  • Reviewingpayroll information for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintainingand updating employee payroll records.
Pension Administration
  • Assistingwith pension administration and maintaining pension-related records.
  • Assistingwith audits and payroll and pension reporting requirements.
  • Assistingwith accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other accounting functionsas assigned.
  • Preparingspreadsheets, reports, reconciliations, and other financial documents.
  • Reviewingand reconciling payroll, pension, and accounting information.
Data & Records Management
  • Entering,verifying, and maintaining financial and employee data.

Confidentiality & GeneralAdministration

REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:

Highschool diploma or equivalent required. One (1) year of experience inaccounting, bookkeeping, finance, payroll, or a related administrative positionis preferred.

Anassociate or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration,human resources, or a related field is preferred but not required.

EXPERIENCE:
Payroll/Pension
  • Knowledgeof or experience with payroll and pension functions is preferred but notrequired.
Computer Skills
  • Workingknowledge of Microsoft Excel is required. Candidates should be comfortable withdata entry, organizing information, sorting and filtering data, basic formulas,and creating and maintaining spreadsheets.
KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS, ABILITIES:
  • Knowledgeof basic accounting and financial recordkeeping principles.
  • Workingknowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Abilityto accurately enter, review, and maintain financial and employeeinformation.
