Job summary

Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation (BWC) in Cleveland seeks a detail-oriented professional to assist walk-in customers and respond to inquiries about coverage. You will review employer accounts, determine eligibility, and process payroll reports with a focus on accuracy and compliance.

On-site full‑time role with standard hours and flex-time options with supervisor approval. Strong accounting knowledge and customer service mindset are essential to succeed.

Qualifications

• 24 months of experience in reviewing and processing claims, collections, billings, payments or document review for accuracy and compliance.
• Or 16 semester hours or 24 quarter hours in accounting plus 12 months accounting/financial experience.
• Or 12 months of experience as Accountant/ Examiner 1 with state government.
• Equivalent minimum qualifications may apply; proficiency demonstration could be required.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance to walk-in customers at the service counter.
• Responds to written and telephone inquiries from public and private employers regarding coverage.
• Monitors, reviews, and establishes coverage on business accounts for employers.
• Determines if the employer is amenable to Ohio law prior to effective date of coverages.
• Examines and processes annual employer payroll reports and true-up reporting.
• Identifies and refers audits to the Auditing Supervisor.
• Answers inquiries from government officials and others regarding classifications, rates, and coverage.
• Attends training and meetings as needed.
