Hourly position – hours vary.

Purpose Statement The job of Accompanist was established for the purpose of providing support to the instructional program with specific responsibilities for providing accompaniment for rehearsals and performances; assisting with related tasks; and serving as an instructional resource for students and teachers in the area of fine arts.

This job reports to the Building Principal.

Essential Functions
  • Accompanies choral and instrumental groups in rehearsals, concerts, competitions, auditions, etc.; ensuring professional musical support.
  • Analyzes assigned music prior to rehearsal and performance to improve tempo, transitions, dynamics, and schedule efficiency.
  • Assists choral and instrumental instructors with student activities such as recording CDs, ordering uniforms, and practicing with individuals or small groups.
  • Assists the teacher in supervising student activities to use class time efficiently and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Exhibits professional and stage etiquette to serve as a model during musical productions.
  • Provides clerical support: ordering and cataloguing music, processing orders, checking invoices, tracking budgets.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
  • Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
  • Skills: piano playing, sight-reading, working with large groups, solo instrumentalists, and choral singers.
  • Knowledge: basic math (fractions, percents, ratios), written procedures, vocal ranges, key transpositions, audition standards.
  • Ability: scheduling, data gathering, using equipment, working with diverse individuals, problem solving with music, teamwork.
  • Experience: job-related experience required.
  • Education: targeted job-related education meeting organization’s requirements.
