Job Description

Evaluate new vehicle accessories to ensure the quality levels meet or exceed Hyundai requirements ensuring no impact to Hyundai KPIs (JD Power IQS, VDS, and Consumer Reports).

  • Install and remove accessories, for the purpose of evaluating them.
  • Evaluate the installation difficulty, quality of the instructions, the accessory function, and participate in instrumented tests as required for the specific type of accessory.
  • Document the process with a clear and concise report in the standard format.
  • Follow up with vendors (MPA) and/or appropriate parties (HATCI, HMA Accessory Planning/Engineering, Port etc.) to address accessory quality related concerns.
  • This includes identifying, documenting (via Quality Info Report), communicating the quality concern and following up until the quality concern is resolved and/or the supplier/vendor can provide firm countermeasure dates and field fix instructions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by HMA Project Manager.
  • Install accessories on vehicles, with the ability to evaluate the fit, installation procedure, instructions, and determine the required installation time.
  • Must be familiar with product development processes (i.e. ISIR and PPAP review and validation) and product QA processes (i.e. issue discovery, problem definition, corrective action reporting, and countermeasure implementation).
  • Make critical decisions during each step of the product development processes, understanding the accessory part’s potential impact on the vehicle ownership experience, warranty costs, and syndicated quality reports (e.g. IQS, VDS, Consumer Report).
  • Provide a similar level QA support for the Accessory Part program once the part reaches mass production and distribution.
  • Assume full‑ownership of all related Accessory Part QA issues.
  • Monitor all sources of quality feedback (e.g. field reports, warranty claims, IQS forecasts/mimics, Consumer Reports. CQI data etc.) for issue discovery & validation.
  • Once validated, the project will continue into problem definition and corrective action reporting to Hyundai QA Management, Hyundai‑MOBIS, and the respective supplier.
  • Work with the each organization’s QA departments to develop an effective countermeasure and see the process through implementation and monitoring phase.
  • Author QIRs (Quality Information Reports) to register accessory quality issues with MOBIS or the respective supplier.
  • Author TSBs (Technical Service Bulletins) as required to assist dealers with diagnosing or repairing accessory issues.
  • Monitor warranty claims for current PIO/DIO Accessory programs.
  • Monitor Accessory quality issues from the field by reviewing FSE, CA and EQF reports.
  • Validate reported quality issues, recommend appropriate courses of action and report findings to HMA Service management.
  • Coordinate & track implementation of all Accessory program countermeasures.
  • Assist with training newly hired Accessory Quality Engineers.
  • This position involves driving of company cars. Must be able to evaluate installed accessories both static and dynamic by driving.
Qualifications
  • Preferred but not required degree in engineering in a relevant discipline (e.g. electrical, mechanical, or automotive sub‑specialty)
  • Previous automotive OEM experience in a similar capacity is preferred.
  • Must be familiar with the mechanical and electrical systems in vehicles.
  • Must have excellent technical report writing ability.
  • Expected report output includes documents related to approved Evaluation Reports, Quality Inspection Reports, and Request for Corrective Action and program status reports.
  • Must be well versed in Microsoft Office Suite, and standard photo editing software (i.e. Photoshop) to support reports.
  • Candidate must be able to operate standard and proprietary automotive test equipment (e.g. DVOM, SPL Meter, RTA, etc.) and obtain meaningful test data to support product development and QA efforts.
  • Must have a valid California driver’s license and good driving record
  • Must be able to conduct business interactions in a professional manner as an agent of Hyundai Motor America in all interactions with employees, management and external organizations.

  • Work may require occasional overtime, weekend, and/or evening work.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 5%, typically single day trips to the Hyundai Proving Grounds.
  • Some overnight trips may occur.
  • This position involves driving of company cars.
  • Must be able to be trained to operate a forklift for occasional use.
  • Use equipment consistent with industry standards.
  • First Aid/CPR Certified preferred but not required.
