Job summary

The University of Utah’s Center for Disability & Access seeks an Accessible Media Specialist to support students with disabilities by ensuring accessible course content and technology accommodations.

You will collaborate with faculty, train students on assistive technologies (JAWS, Dragon NaturallySpeaking, ZoomText, Otter, OneNote), oversee production of accessible materials, and help coordinate services while upholding FERPA confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in a related field or equivalent experience; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Two years of related experience and strong communication skills.
• Ability to use assistive technology and coordinate accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct student support and ensure accessible course content.
• Meet federal mandates regarding accommodations for students with disabilities.
• Advise faculty on technology-based accommodation needs.
• Train students on assistive tech such as JAWS, ZoomText, and Dragon NaturallySpeaking.
• Oversee creation and organization of accessible materials.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records under FERPA.
