Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe is a plus.
• Familiarity with digital accessibility standards such as WCAG is preferred.
• Experience with assistive technologies and training delivery is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Indirect student service through collaboration with faculty, staff, IT, and institutional support; review, assess, and provide basic accessibility remediation for inaccessible course content.
• Review captioned content for accuracy.
• Deliver accessibility-related workshops to faculty and staff.
• Proctor and provide recommendations on emerging educational technologies and develop training opportunities.
• Develop online self-help resources, website content, guides, workshops and presentations.
• Provide information access to course content through notes for all live activities and deliver notes per accommodations policy.
• Provide visual support, dictation, manipulation of objects, or operation of peripheral equipment to address accessibility needs; support testing accommodation access via proctoring, reading and scribing.

The technician will achieve this by evaluating, enhancing, and ensuring the accessibility of digital technologies and content, including course materials, websites, and online resources, in accordance with established accessibility standards (such as WCAG) and legal requirements. This role is crucial in helping the institution meet the diverse needs of the CNM community.Duties & ResponsibilitiesIndirect student service through collaboration with faculty, staff, IT, and institutional support:Under departmental direction, works closely with faculty to review, assess, and provide basic accessibility remediation for inaccessible course content or textbooks.Reviews captioned content for accuracy.Escalates inaccurate content for professional captions or provides direct captioning of short content items as directed.Delivers accessibility-related workshops to faculty and staff under departmental direction.Creates and presents material for faculty and staff on best practices based on quality standards for WCAG/accessibilityProctor and provide recommendations on emerging educational technologies and utilize this information to develop training opportunities for the CNM community.Participates in developing online self-help resources, website content, paper guides, workshops, presentations, and other support resources related to accessibility.Direct student accommodation support, as needed:Provides information access to course content through notes for all live course activities.
