Job summary

William Paterson University is seeking an Access Services Librarian to oversee circulation, course reserves, stacks, and related patron services. This twelve-month tenure-track role reports to the Assistant Director for Access & Information Services and involves supervision of Lending Services staff, training, policy development, and collaboration with campus offices to maintain accurate records in Banner.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (ALA-accredited) required by appointment.
• Second master’s degree required by tenure.
• One year professional experience in circulation and course reserves.
• Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Experience in academic library and with diverse populations.
• Experience with an integrated library system or services platform.
• Commitment to service and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, and coordinates Lending Services staff for circulation, reserves, scanners, stacks and building maintenance.
• Provides supervision and training for Lending Services staff including full-time, part-time staff and student assistants.
• Develops and implements circulation, reserve, and copyright policies and communicates them to Library personnel and users.
• Collaborates with Information Systems, Registrar’s Office, Student Accounts and other campus departments to maintain Banner information.
• Provides training and support for the integrated library system.
• Generates management reports and prepares statistical reports.
• Maintains awareness of automated circulation processes and copyright compliance.
• Performs routine administrative functions within Lending Services.
