The Access Services Librarian oversees all circulation and customer service functions at the information desk, ensuring high-quality, responsive services to the university community. This position is key in managing library operations related to interlibrary loan, circulation, stacks maintenance, and student employee supervision.
This full-time, exempt position reports to the Director of Libraries.

Essential Job Functions
Duty and Responsibility
• Oversee student employees in collaboration with the Director of Libraries.
• Hires and trains student employees in circulation and customer service functions to ensure
quality service and completion of routine tasks.
• Process all interlibrary loan requests in Tipasa and I-Share while ensuring compliance with
copyright regulations.
• Run circulation and interlibrary loan reports and maintain monthly statistics on library services.
• Ensure a welcoming and respectful library environment for all patrons.
• Oversee and coordinate the maintenance of library stacks to ensure materials are shelved
correctly and in good condition.
• Develop and implement book displays highlighting library collections, university events, and
relevant topics of interest.
• Process newly acquired print books, ensuring automated processes for cataloging, holding
updates, and item records are correct and consistent.
• Monitor shelving accuracy and conduct regular shelf reading to maintain organization and
accessibility.
• Communicate course reserve policies and coordinate with faculty each semester on reserve
needs.
• Keep digital sign up to date with relevant news.
• Oversee tools such as the 3-D printer and button maker.
• Work with student organizations to host programs and events.
• Work closely with Campus Safety, the Dean of Students Office, Learning Commons, and Chicago
Mail Services for student support.
• Other duties as assigned to support the mission of the library and university.
