Summary

The Access & Reimbursement Manager, NPS (Novartis Patient Support) Immunology is a field-based role covering Syracuse, Albany, Utica, Rochester, Buffalo, NY. Associate must reside within territory or within a reasonable daily commuting distance of 60 miles from territory border.

Access and Reimbursement Manager (ARM) proactively provides education to defined accounts on a wide range of access and reimbursement topics in support of aligned product(s) strategy. ARM serves as the key contact for access and reimbursement support-related matters and is responsible for being the local market access expert on payer policy coverage, multi-channel acquisition pathways, billing and coding, claims processing, reimbursement, and integration of manufacturer support programs into account workflows. The ARM must demonstrate problem-solving skills, analyze access and reimbursement issues, and communicate changes in the healthcare landscape.

About the Role

Major Accountabilities:

  1. Interact within assigned accounts to support patient access, providing education on product-specific programs to providers and staff.
  2. Address customer questions related to NPC policies on product ordering, payment, inventorying, and product returns & replacement.
  3. Work with key members of therapeutic area offices to support patient access to products.
  4. Analyze problems and offer solutions regarding payer policies, drug acquisition, and patient reimbursement.
  5. Support pull-through on local coverage decisions to enable meaningful patient access.
  6. Accountable for standing up NVS-sponsored patient support programs.
  7. Maintain expertise in regional and local access landscape and act as reimbursement expert.
  8. Collaborate with cross-functional associates within NPC to share insights on customer needs.
  9. Maintain a deep understanding of NPC policies and handle Patient Identifiable Information (PII) appropriately.

Buy and Bill Specific:

  1. Assess access situation within the assigned geography and develop appropriate Plan of Action (POA).
  2. Responsible for establishing preferred acquisition pathways and educating on buy-and-bill processes.
  3. Analyze reimbursement issues & opportunities, acting as the designated reimbursement expert.
  4. Engage with non-prescribers, including pharmacy and office administrators.
Education

Bachelor’s Degree required. Advanced degree preferred.

Minimum Requirements
  1. Minimum three to five years' experience in reimbursement arena or pharmaceutical industry.
  2. Experience with specialty pharmacy products and coding, billing, and in-office support programs.
  3. Prior account management experience with complex accounts.
  4. Specialty pharmacy experience required.
  5. Knowledge of CMS policies and Managed Care, Government, and Federal payer sectors.
  6. Ability to operate as a team player and travel at least 50% of the time.
  7. Superb knowledge of buy-and-bill reimbursement pathway.
  8. Experience working with established injection networks.

  3. Advanced knowledge of medical insurance terminology.
  4. Strong teamwork abilities and project management skills.
  5. Ability to work independently and manage expenses.
  6. Good driving record.
  7. Above average computer skills.
  8. Understanding of patient privacy laws.
  9. Strong business acumen.

Novartis Compensation and Benefit Summary: The pay range for this position is expected to be between $138,600.00 and $257,400.00/year, with final pay depending on various factors.

Field roles with a dedicated training period only: The individual hired will be required to successfully complete initial training.

Driving is an essential function of this role; a valid driver’s license is required.
