Job summary

University of Virginia is seeking both Access Control Technician and Senior Access Control Technician to join Facilities Management. The role spans installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of card readers, sensors, door hardware, and control boards across campus facilities and medical environments.

Qualified candidates will have 2–4 years of electronic access control experience and a valid Virginia driver's license; technicians may advance to senior level with project oversight

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years of experience with electronic access control systems (Technician).
• 4 years for Senior level and valid Virginia driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Install and repair card readers, sensors, door hardware, and control boards for electronic access control systems.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electronic access control equipment and hardware.
• Perform preventive maintenance on electronic equipment and hardware.
• Maintain and repair automatic and electrically operated door-opening devices and hardware.
• Use access control software and mobile apps for programming, troubleshooting, and reporting.
• Assist with locksmith services and keys as needed.
• Respond to service calls and after-hours emergencies; maintain safety regulations.
• Senior level: oversee small projects, prepare estimates, manage inventory.
