Wachter is accepting applications for Access Control Project Technicians for installation and services work at various retail locations across the United States. We seek self-motivated, reliable technicians who can work independently to complete jobs.

The role covers planning, installation, troubleshooting, cabling, and testing access control systems to ensure full operation and compliance with requirements. Wachter offers competitive pay and strong benefits.

Qualifications

  • Experience in field installation for CCTV, alarm, fire, and access control.
  • Current/valid Physical Security and/or Life Safety license.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Experience reading blueprints and site maps.
  • Experience with CCTV, voice, and data cabling is a plus.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Proficient with email, spreadsheets, and internal systems.
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record (no DUI/DWI in last 3 years).

Responsibilities

  • Assist pre-installation by designing and planning technical solutions.
  • Perform new installs and provide on-site and remote escalation support.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair cabling systems and equipment in Access Control.
  • Run low voltage cables and conduit in commercial buildings.
  • Be able to cut in door strikes and maglocks, when needed.
  • Complete wiring and equipment installations ensuring total customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with Installation Team Lead on schedules and delivery.
  • Conduct tests to ensure systems are operational.
  • Troubleshoot installations to meet codes and requirements.

Requirements & Experience
  • Experience in field installation experience in the security environment: CCTV, Alarm, Fire, and Access Control.
  • Current/valid state required Physical Security license and/or Life Safety license in the applicable technology.
  • Available to travel.
  • Experience reading blueprints and site maps.
  • Experience in CCTV, voice, and data cabling is a plus.
  • Excellent customer relationship and communication skills; verbal and written.
  • Has basic telecommunication tools, PPE, and reliable transportation during the training period prior to issuing a company vehicle.
  • Computer/laptop/smartphone proficiency.
  • Highly proficient with the use of email, spreadsheets, and the ability to learn internal systems.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; no DUI or DWI in the last three years.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with pre-installation opportunities by designing and planning technical solutions.
  • Perform new installs and provide technical escalation support both on-site at customer locations as well as remotely via the phone and specialized tools.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair cabling systems and equipment in Access Control.
  • Run low voltage and composite cables in commercial buildings, including drilling concrete walls and completing conduit work, where needed.
  • Be able to cut in door strikes and maglocks, when needed.
  • Complete all wiring, connections, and equipment installations ensuring that access control systems are complete with total customer satisfaction and contractual requirements.
  • Assist and collaborate with the Installation Team Lead or Project Manager regarding on-site work schedules and timely delivery of equipment.
  • Conduct tests to ensure all newly installed systems and component devices are operational.
  • Troubleshoot new system installations to ensure the proper functioning and to ensure the system meets local, county, state, or federal codes and legal and/or insurance requirements.
