Job summary

CBX Solutions, the nation’s leading provider of architectural doors, access control, and security integration services, seeks an Access Control Technician for its Security Integration Division. The role involves installing, programming, testing, and servicing access control and CCTV components in commercial facilities.

You will interpret plans, pull low‑voltage cabling, and coordinate with contractors while ensuring safety and industry compliance.

Qualifications

• 1+ years experience installing and servicing access control and surveillance systems in commercial environments.
• Familiarity with card readers, strikes/maglocks, door contacts, request-to-exit devices, and network/IP cameras.
• Experience in programming and configuring access control software (Lenel, Genetec, Avigilon, AMAG, Openpath).
• Understanding of network architecture and basic IP configuration (static IP, subnet, gateway).
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or trade school a plus.
• Low voltage electrical license preferred or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Interpret shop drawings, riser diagrams, and project plans to ensure accurate field installations.
• Install, program, and troubleshoot access control systems and video surveillance components (e.g., CCTV cameras, NVRs).
• Pull and terminate low voltage wiring (Cat5e/6, coaxial, structured cabling).
• Coordinate with door and hardware technicians to integrate with physical access systems.
• Interface with general contractors and facility managers on-site to ensure scope compliance.
• Diagnose issues and perform service calls to determine root causes and corrective actions.
• Document work performed, including time tracking and configurations.
• Ensure installations comply with industry standards (BICSI, EIA/TIA).
