Job summary

NSA’s Linguists, known as Multidisciplined Language Analysts (MDLAs), contribute to SIGINT by analyzing, transcribing, and translating foreign language materials. Depending on skill and experience, MDLAs may enter the Language Analysis Development Program (LADP) or be hired directly into analytic offices across NSA.

LADP lasts up to three years, includes multiple operational tours, and combines on-the-job practice with classroom training.

Qualifications

• Minimum language proficiency ILR level 2/2 in reading and listening for the target language.
• Degree in any field is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Analyze foreign language materials for SIGINT mission, including transcription and translation.
• Engage with partners and customers across the Intelligence Community to support analytic outputs.
• Prepare written and oral assessments reflecting analytic insights and language proficiency.
• Participate in operational tours and training under the LADP or direct hire pathways.
