The City of West Sacramento is seeking motivated individuals for law enforcement roles. This position will include patrol duties, emergency responses, and law enforcement tasks under the direction of a Police Sergeant. Ideal candidates will possess strong community engagement skills, a valid California driver's license, and a commitment to serve and protect the community.

UP TO $2,477 PER MONTH FOR FAMILY MEDICAL COVERAGE.
4.25% for a Bachelor's Degree and 2.5% for a Master's Degree, totaling 6.75%;
4.85% for Intermediate POST certificate and 5% for an Advanced POST certificate, totaling 9.85%;
Longevity pay: 5% for 10 years of sworn POST service, 7.5% at 12 years, and 10% at 15 years.
$27.50 per pay period fitness incentive.
Employees possessing and utilizing bilingual skills on duty shall receive an additional 5% of their hourly rate of pay.

Examination Process:
Oral Panel Interview: The top candidates meeting minimum qualifications and submitting proper documentation will be invited for an oral panel interview. The interview results will determine placement on the eligibility list.

DEFINITION: Under the direction of a Police Sergeant, performs law enforcement and crime prevention work; enforces traffic regulations; conducts investigations; supports crime prevention programs; and performs various technical law enforcement tasks. Supervision may be provided by higher-level police personnel, and some assignments may involve supervising non-sworn personnel and volunteers.
ESSENTIAL AND MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
Essential Functions: Patrols the city, responds to emergencies, enforces laws, makes arrests, conducts investigations, gathers evidence, testifies in court, and maintains public relations.
Marginal Functions: Administers First Aid, directs traffic at emergencies, performs limited crime lab analysis, and other duties as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent; age 21 or older; lateral entry requires 1 year of law enforcement experience.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES: Valid California driver's license; lateral entry requires proof of California Basic POST Certificate; entry level requires POST Basic Academy completion.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work in emergency environments, potentially dangerous situations, inclement weather, and physically demanding activities.
