Job summary

Pellissippi State Community College is seeking part-time, temporary tutors for Tutor I, II, or III across Academic Tutoring. You will tutor students individually or in groups to improve performance, retention, and graduation rates on one of the five Pellissippi State campuses or virtually.

Pay ranges from $16.00 to $19.00 per hour depending on experience and level. The role emphasizes flexible scheduling and engagement with students and faculty to support learning outcomes.

Qualifications

• Must have completed the class(es) to be tutored with a grade of B or better.
• Transcripts showing minimum qualifications must be provided.
• Applicant must be professional, respectful, and trustworthy.
• For writers: bachelor's in a writing-intensive major; a master's preferred.
• Math tutors must have completed the next higher class to be tutored.
• Ability to use some computer applications and the Internet.

Responsibilities

• Tutor students individually and in groups; adapt methods to student needs.
• Participate in tutor training and complete required paperwork.
• Communicate with Academic Tutoring staff.
• Visit classes and events to promote tutoring services.
• Confer with tutors and teachers to resolve student problems.
• Refer students to other departments/resources.
