Job summary

South Burlington School District is seeking a Tutor to provide intensive tutorial services to students under the direction of the Director of Educational Support Services and Principal. The role involves collaboration with teachers to implement a curriculum and to develop essential study skills.

The position emphasizes adapting tutoring to IEP requirements, maintaining records, and supporting student success within a district that offers extensive benefits and professional development

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in education, Bachelor of Arts degree in education or content area preferred.
  • 1+ years relevant tutoring/education experience required.
  • Ability to adapt tutoring to fit the needs and abilities of assigned students and to support IEP goals.

Responsibilities

  • Presents subject matter to students under guidance of teachers, using learning tools and technology.
  • Provides academic assistance to assigned students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning and build study skills.
  • Adapts tutoring to fit IEP accommodations and goals.
  • Maintains professional interactions with students, parents and staff; collaborates with teachers and case managers.
  • Keeps accurate records and prepares periodic assessments; participates in IEP meetings as requested.
