Qualifications

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to follow a consistent weekly schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Assign, instruct, and supervise tutors.
  • Monitor volunteers working directly with students.
  • Provide individual or small-group tutoring to reinforce learning concepts.
  • Keep students on task and engaged in academic work.
  • Maintain regular communication with teachers and school counselors.
  • Support each student’s individual academic needs through shared information and coordinated strategies.
  • Supervise and support students in both elementary and middle school programs as needed.
  • Encourage positive behavior, participation, and teamwork.
  • Lead or assist with team-building activities for students.
  • Foster a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment.
  • Adhere to and enforce the program Code of Conduct and behavioral policies.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the proper use and care of facilities.
  • Observe, track, and document students’ academic progress weekly.
  • Record and maintain relevant data to assess student growth.
  • Provide program support to the Director and other staff members.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings.
  • Safely operate a 15-passenger van when assigned.
  • Assist with student transitions between program components.

Academic Support Coordinator - Youth Education Program
Position Summary

The Academic Support Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring high‑quality academic support for students in the Homework Help program. This position oversees daily tutoring operations, collaborates with school staff to understand student needs, and maintains a structured, encouraging learning environment. Coordinators supervise tutors and volunteers, support students individually and in small groups, and help track academic progress throughout the year. The program operates only on ISD 196 school days, with no programming on district holidays or the day before a holiday break.

Position Requirements

Experience working with diverse populations of children in educational settings

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Spanish language skills a plus

Primary Responsibilities

Assign, instruct, and supervise tutors

Monitor volunteers working directly with students

Provide individual or small‑group tutoring to reinforce learning concepts

Keep students on task and engaged in academic work

Maintain regular communication with teachers and school counselors

Support each student’s individual academic needs through shared information and coordinated strategies

Program Operations

Commitment Options:

Elementary Coordinator: 2:30 PM - 6:30 PM

The academic portion of the program concludes at 5:30pm. On days when home transportation support is needed, Coordinators extend their shift until 6:30pm to assist with van dismissal. This responsibility varies depending on daily staffing availability.

Compensation

This is a paid hourly position. Hourly Rate:$23–$25 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
