Job summary

ACCEL Schools is seeking an Academic Support Specialist at Northeast Ohio College Preparatory School in Cleveland, Ohio to support student achievement and engagement across K-12 programs.

The role emphasizes collaboration with teachers, families, and campus leaders to implement RTI/MTSS processes, monitor progress, and promote social-emotional learning within a college-prep environment.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Guidance & Counseling with School Counseling Endorsement on a Valid Ohio Teaching Certificate.
• Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree with Valid Teaching Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Relentlessly work to meet all goals related to student achievement and culture as well as Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) goals.
• Meet with students who are at-risk for retention each marking period and, if appropriate, formulate a plan of action for academic success with the involvement of the student and parent/guardian.
• Plan and/or promote programs which enhance the academic, social or emotional growth of students, e.g., Curriculum Fair, Career Fair, Underclass Honors Assembly, Honors Program, graduation, opportunities for student enrichment and/or remediation, scholarship opportunities and parent informational programs.
• Meet with eighth grade students once each semester and mailing updates on their promotion status to their parents.
• Assist students with the completion of high school admissions applications.
• Support the educational and behavioral goals of all students, including those with an Individualized Education Plan or those learning English as a second language.
• Work in conjunction with the Director of Academics, Parent Liaison, and Dean of Students with students who are referred for discipline, attendance and academic challenges.
