Job summary

The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking an Academic Advisor 2 for the College of Agriculture, Biotechnology & Natural Resources (CABNR). Located on UNR Main Campus, the role reports to Elizabeth Sedano, Director, Academic Success, and involves advising a diverse student population, supporting retention, and coordinating with admissions and orientation teams.

Responsibilities include counseling on course selection, maintaining student records, and contributing to recruitment efforts and program

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and two (2) years of related work experience OR Master’s Degree and one (1) year of related work experience.
• Related experience: Academic advising, teaching, student services or related fields.
• Preferred: Experience advising students in higher education.

Responsibilities

• Advise incoming freshmen, new students, continuing students and transfer students on core courses and major choices; conduct advising appointments.
• Provide retention data and enrollment management information for reports and presentations.
• Process Admission and Records forms and scheduling tasks; assist with registration and orientation.
• Participate in new student orientation and advise on academic probation, with referrals to campus resources.
• Maintain accurate student records and document interactions; assist with outreach related to early alert systems.
• Develop advising materials and presentations; stay current on academic information for staff and students.
• Participate in recruitment activities and collaborate with Marketing/Communication for resources.
• Contribute to advising and retention projects, training peer leaders, and program assessments.
• Serve on college committees and support internship programs as applicable.
