Job summary

AACPS seeks a Specialist: Academic 12 Month to act as a strategic, collaborative member of the Academic team supporting the district's strategic plan across the school year. The role covers curriculum, instruction, assessment, professional learning, data analysis, and planning and executing countywide events.

Responsibilities include supporting schools to align instruction with MSDE standards, leading professional development, and coordinating curriculum writing with the Coordinator.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in related field of education (regionally accredited).
• Four (4) years classroom teaching experience required.
• One (1) year experience leading professional development preferred.
• Equivalent education/experience acceptable per district policy.

Responsibilities

• Acts as a strategic and collaborative member of the Academic team to communicate AACPS' curriculum goals to school staff and community.
• Supports schools with implementing a comprehensive academic program aligned to MSDE standards.
• Facilitates instructional planning with school leadership to enhance teacher capacity.
• Visits schools to observe practices and provide data-driven feedback for planning.
• Leads professional development initiatives for teachers and school teams at school and district level meetings.
• Supports curriculum writing and assessment development processes and leads curriculum projects.
