Job summary

DoWEA in Alexandria, VA seeks an Instructional Systems Specialist to guide policy for PK-12 Advanced Academic Programs and Services (AAPS). The role trains staff on AAPS procedures, reviews school staffing, and assesses system-wide curriculum effectiveness to meet performance standards.

You will act as COR, liaise with federal agencies, and prepare reports for senior leadership on program performance and instructional material needs, ensuring compliance with DoW requirements.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree with coursework in learning theory, instructional design, educational evaluation, instructional product development or Computers in education and training.
• Transcripts must be submitted; foreign education must be evaluated if used to meet qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide policy guidance on Advanced Academic Programs and Services (AAPS) for PreK-12 students.
• Provide training to staff regarding AAPS procedures, updates and strategic plans.
• Review staffing allocations for all schools and develop recommendations.
• Assess system-wide effectiveness by monitoring curriculum/performance standards.
• Provide reports to Associate Director and Assistant Associate Director on program performance and instructional needs.
• Represent DoWEA as COR and in meetings with Federal agencies.

Education

Bachelor's degree with at least 24 semester hours in learning theory, instructional design, educational evaluation, instructional product development or computers in education and training
