Job summary

West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV seeks a Palliative Care Physician (Assistant/Associate/Professor). Qualifications

Additional Job Description:

West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department ofMedicine seeks a Palliative Care Physician (ranks available:Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). Thesuccessful candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown,WV.

Depending on operational needs, a successful candidate may also beassigned to provide services at additional worksites in WestVirginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. In such instances, travelwould be anticipated and expected to fulfill said duties at theseadditional sites.

Duties:

• The successful candidate will practice in the areas ofPalliative Care medicine. In addition to providing excellentpatient care, the successful candidate will also be activelyinvolved in teaching medical students, residents, andfellows.

Qualifications:

• Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreignequivalent and be eligible for state medical license. Successfulcandidate must have completed residency in internal medicine orfamily medicine and fellowship in palliative care by the time ofappointment. Successful candidates must be board certified /eligible in Palliative Medicine. All qualifications must be met bythe time of appointment.

The Section of Geriatrics, Palliative Medicine and Hospice at WVU has the main mission to advance health care and quality of life forolder people and those with serious illnesses.

Our Palliative Medicine and Hospice team provides patient andfamily centered care that offers quality of life for patients withlife limiting illnesses by anticipating, preventing, and treatingsuffering. Inpatient and outpatient services are provided,including local nursing homes.
