Job summary

The University of Maryland, Baltimore is seeking an academic palliative medicine physician to contribute to inpatient consultation, ambulatory care, and GIP hospice leadership. The role supports an individualized portfolio across clinical, educational, scholarly, and leadership activities.

Expected rank is Assistant Professor or higher, with compensation aligned to rank, experience, and market conditions. Strong internal medicine background and teaching are valued.

Qualifications

• Medical degree in good standing and eligible for medical licensure in Maryland.
• Board certification or eligibility in Palliative Medicine is required or anticipated.
• Strong foundation in internal medicine, teaching, research or quality improvement.

Responsibilities

• Develop a clinical portfolio aligned with interests and expertise.
• Lead inpatient palliative medicine consultation and ambulatory care services.
• Possibly serve as GIP Hospice Medical Director and lead initiatives.
• Pursue teaching, quality improvement, and research with protected time.
• Demonstrate scholarship and service to the institution and community.
