Details

  1. The Division of Neonatology at the University of Utah School of Medicine has an opening for an Academic Neonatologist. The Neonatologist will provide clinical care for neonatology patients, including shared night call and weekend responsibilities at three Level III/IV NICUs (University Hospital, Primary Children's Hospital, Intermountain Medical Center). Active clinical programs include transfusion medicine, neonatal hematology, ECMO, whole body hypothermia, NeuroNICU, perioperative care, and neonatal critical care. The initial clinical service expectation is approximately 18 weeks annually.
  2. In addition to clinical duties, there are academic responsibilities such as education, research, administration, and advocacy. The Neonatologist is expected to pursue scholarly research, including individual or collaborative projects, grant development, and presentations, with mentoring support. Opportunities for research exist within the Division and across the university, including bench, translational, and clinical investigations. The Division participates in the NICHD Neonatal Research Network. Interests in point of care ultrasound, simulation training, telehealth, and clinical research are of particular interest. Teaching duties include supervising fellows, residents, and students, with participation in Neonatal Grand Rounds. Cross-service teaching may also be available.
  3. Qualifications include Board Eligibility/Certification in Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, excellent procedural and clinical skills, and research capabilities. Experience or interest in simulation modeling is preferred. The appointment will be in the Department of Pediatrics, at an academic level matching experience and qualifications.
