Job summary

The Community Youth Center of San Francisco seeks an Academic Liaison to work with the School-Based Leadership Team and the After School Program, aligning academic components with school day expectations and supporting interventions.

Responsibilities include 1:1 social/emotional and behavioral health support, development of QAP-aligned goals, PD for after-school staff, homework supervision, and collaboration with schools to improve outcomes for high-need youth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field plus CA Teacher’s Credential and 2 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated ability to develop curriculum and implement programs.
• Experience in classroom management, conflict mediation, and restorative practices is a plus.
• Possess strong interpersonal, organizational, conflict mediation, facilitation, and leadership skills.
• Experience building effective partnerships with schools, community-based organizations, and community partners.
• Ability to work with ethnically diverse groups of low-income youth as well as English language learners to support their social and emotional learning and development.
• Excellent technology skills (familiar with Google Docs & Sheets, Excel, etc.)
• Possess a high level of personal organization, attention to detail, and follow-through with a strong ability to keep a cool head in stressful and high-energy environments.

Responsibilities

• Meet regularly with the School-Based Leadership Team to plan and create systems for ongoing communication between site administrator(s) and the ASP Leadership Team.
• Meet with school leadership regularly and act as liaison between school day and after-school staff, representing ASP interests to school day teachers and vice versa.
• Provide 1:1 or small group social/emotional and behavioral health support as necessary.
• Participate in the creation of the QAP Aligned Academic Support goals.
• Create a work plan that supports the QAP goals; submit midyear and year-end progress reports.
• Lead and provide PD and coaching to after-school staff around academic content and instructional strategies.
• Supervise and provide homework assistance in tutoring and create a positive learning environment.
• Create/compile math, language arts, reading, social studies and/or science worksheets as extra practice for youth.
• Maintain proper attendance and assist with program evaluations as required by funders.
• Establish and maintain positive and safe learning environments, manage behavior with restorative practices, and handle emergencies.
