Job summary

Community Youth Center of San Francisco (CYC) is seeking an Academic Liaison to collaborate with the School-Based Leadership Team and align after-school and school-day academic components.

The role supports academic interventions, 1:1 behavioral supports, and RTI and Culture & Climate initiatives while coordinating with ASP staff and school personnel. Requires CA teaching credential and experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field plus CA Teacher’s Credential and 2 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated ability to develop curriculum and implement programs.
• Experience in classroom management, conflict mediation, and restorative practices is a plus.
• Possess strong interpersonal, organizational, conflict mediation, facilitation, and leadership skills.
• Experience building effective partnerships with schools, community-based organizations, and community partners.
• Ability to work with ethnically diverse groups of low-income youth as well as English language learners to support their social and emotional learning and development.
• Excellent technology skills (familiar with Google Docs & Sheets, Excel, etc.)
• Possess a high level of personal organization, attention to detail, and follow-through with a strong ability to keep a cool head in stressful and high-energy environments.
• Ability to model to staff and participants: professionalism, personal responsibility, a strong work ethic, and positive character.
• Bilingual in Cantonese/Mandarin, Spanish, and Arabic is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Meet regularly with the School-Based Leadership Team to plan programs and create systems for ongoing communication between site administrators and the ASP Leadership Team.
• Act as liaison between school day and after-school staff, representing the after-school program interests to school day teachers.
• Provide 1:1 or small group social/emotional and behavioral health support.
• Create and align goals for QAP and submit midyear and year-end progress reports.
• Lead professional development and coaching for after-school staff around academics and instructional strategies.
• Supervise tutoring and create worksheets for math, language arts, reading, social studies and science.
• Maintain attendance and assist with funder-required program evaluations.
• Establish safe learning environments and manage behavior with restorative practices.
• Report to work on time and communicate schedule changes with supervisors.
• Collaborate with other CYC programs on special projects and events.

JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

The Community Youth Center of San Francisco (CYC) provides the youth of our city a sense of belonging and vital tools and experiences to succeed in life. Our services include academic support and college counseling, job placement and employment training, substance use and violence prevention education, crisis intervention and mediation, leadership development, technology and computer training. Our mission is to encourage a diverse population of high-need young people to explore their full potential through academic, career, family, and community life.

Title: Academic Liaison

Salary: $50.00-$56.00 per hour

Reports to: Site Coordinator (Education Component)

Status: Non-exempt, Part-Time (Position Ends: 6/2/27)

(Up to 10 hours per week based on school needs)

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Academic Liaison (AL) works collaboratively with the School-Based Leadership Team and serves as a thought partner to the After School Program (ASP), helping to align vision, expectations, and outcomes between the ASP and the school day—particularly around academic components. The AL also supports academic interventions, 1:1 behavioral supports and helps align efforts around Behavior RTI and Culture & Climate initiatives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Meet regularly with the School-Based Leadership Team to conduct program planning and create systems for, and participate in, ongoing communication between site administrator(s) and the ASP Leadership Team.
• Meet with school leadership regularly and act as designated communication liaison between school day and after school staff, representing the interests and initiatives of the after school program to school day teachers and vice versa.
• Provide 1:1 or small group social/emotional and behavioral health support as necessary.
• Participate in the creation of the QAP Aligned Academic Support goals.
• Create a work plan that supports the QAP goals. Submit a midyear and year-end report on progress.
• Lead and provide access to ongoing professional development (PD) and coaching to after-school staff around academic content and instructional strategies. This may include observations, mini-lessons, and/or after-school staff in PD already occurring at the school site.
• Supervise and provide homework assistance in subject-specific tutoring and create a positive learning environment in tutoring programs.
• Create and/or compile math, language arts, reading, social studies and/or science worksheets as extra practice for youth.
• Maintain proper attendance and assist with program evaluations as required by funders.
• Establish and maintain positive and safe learning environments for program participants, including assisting with classroom and behavior management, resolving and mediating conflicts using restorative practices, handling emergencies and injuries, etc.
• Report to work on time, inform the supervisor of any impending tardiness or missed shifts, and obtain the supervisor's approval for any alteration to the regular work schedule.
• Collaborate with other CYC programs to support special projects and events as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
