The position is funded via CSI and contingent on federal funds for the 2026-2027 school year. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8am–4pm, 35 hours per week. A 30-day Substitute Permit is required and a BS/BA degree is necessary.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree is required.
  • Valid 30-Day Substitute Permit is required.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of scientifically based mathematics instruction for middle and high school.
  • Ability to organize a variety of tasks locally and in different geographic areas.
  • Ability to handle daily classroom instruction.
  • Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares focused interventions for students’ academic success.
  • Instructs students in multiple subjects using various teaching methods and materials.
  • Prepares a course outline following state and school guidelines.
  • Collaborates with teachers to seek alternative interventions to motivate and prevent dropouts.
  • Counsels students on adjustment and academic problems.
  • Collaborates with parents, students, and teachers to improve attendance.
  • Participates in community groups, meetings, and teacher training workshops.
  • Meets with students and parents to discuss progress and problems.
  • Performs other administrative duties as assigned.

Pay Range: $29.71 - $35.43 - Hourly – Depending on Experience

The main focus of the Academic Intervention Specialist is to provide data-driven, outcome-oriented instruction and evidence-based interventions to students. The goal is to ensure students have access to high-quality instruction, as well as to support them in their academic progress and educational goals. The Academic Intervention Specialist will be accessible for direct instruction to students for a duration of the day. This position, supported by CSI funding, is dedicated to assisting students who are at the highest risk of falling behind their peers in completing core coursework. As a supplemental support position, its funding is derived from federal sources; therefore, the continuation of employment is contingent upon the availability of federal funds (only for school year 2026-2027).

Schedule:

Monday-Friday 8am-4pm, 35 hours/week

Our ideal candidate will:
  • Prepares focused interventions for students’ academic success.
  • Instruct students in multiple subjects, using various teaching methods, audiovisual aids, and other materials.
  • Prepares an outline for the course of study, following the curriculum guidelines or requirements of the state and school.
  • Collaborates with teacher(s) to seek alternative interventions to motivate and prevent students from dropping out.
  • Counsels students in adjustment and academic problems.
  • Collaborates with parents, students, and teachers to improve attendance.
  • Participates in various community groups or functions, faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
  • Meets with students and parents to discuss student progress and problems.
  • Performs other administrative functions and duties as assigned.
We’ll need you to have the following requirements:
  • BS/BA degree required.
  • Valid 30-Day Substitute Permit required.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of scientifically based mathematics instruction specifically related to middle and high school grade students.
  • Ability to organize a variety of tasks locally and in different geographic areas.
  • Ability to handle daily classroom instruction.
  • Spanish preferred
