Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University seeks an Academic Internship Site Development Specialist to source, develop, and manage a robust network of internship sites. You will engage employers, alumni, and community partners to create credit-bearing opportunities and support site supervisors.

Reporting to the Director of the Academic Internships Office, the role combines research, outreach, and relationship-building to advance experiential learning and student outcomes within a hybrid work arrangement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and sustain partnerships with diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Comfort with technology platforms for relationship management, data tracking, and communication.
• Commitment to respect, professionalism, and civility with faculty, staff, and students.

Responsibilities

• Identify, recruit, and onboard new internship sites aligned with programs and pathways.
• Engage with employers, community organizations, and alumni to promote hosting credit-bearing internships.
• Represent the Academic Internships Office at outreach events and meetings.
• Maintain strong relationships with approved internship sites and advise site supervisors.
