Job summary

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Department of Surgery seeks a full-time General Surgeon to join a five-faculty practice with open rank/track terms. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive general surgical care across UNC Hillsborough and Chatham campuses, contribute to education, and advance community access to high-quality surgical services.

Requirements include MD/DO, Board certification or eligibility in General Surgery, NC licensure eligibility, and capability

Qualifications

• MD or DO, board-certified or board-eligible in General Surgery.
• Eligible for NC medical licensure.
• Eligible for UNC Health privileges.
• Interest in expanding access to surgical care in community populations.
• Experience in elective and emergency general surgery.
• Interest in minimally invasive and robotic techniques.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to clinical care, medical education, and scholarly activity.

Responsibilities

• Provide elective and urgent general surgery at both Hillsborough and Chatham campuses.
• Manage emergency general surgery calls at the Hillsborough campus.
• Provide outpatient consultations and follow-up at both campuses.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across UNC Health.
• Support the education of medical students and residents.
