Job summary

The Department of Surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking applications for a full-time academic General Surgeon to join the Section of General Surgery within the Division of GI Surgery. The position will provide comprehensive general surgery services at UNC Health Care at Hillsborough and the Chapel Hill campuses.

Focus areas include elective and urgent general surgery with a development in abdominal wall reconstruction, foregut, and/or minimally invasive

Qualifications

• MD/DO or equivalent medical degree.
• Board certification or eligibility in General Surgery.
• Eligible for North Carolina medical licensure.
• Eligible for UNC Health hospital privileges.

Responsibilities

• Provide elective and urgent general surgery care with multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Work across UNC Hillsborough and Chapel Hill campuses to support the Department's mission.
• Engage in educational activities, clinical research, and quality improvement initiatives.

Education

MD/DO or equivalent medical degree

Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery

Eligible for medical licensure in North Carolina

Eligible for UNC Health hospital privileges
