Job summary

The University of Miami is seeking an MD/DO or PhD board-certified professional in Clinical Pathology (or subspecialty) to lead our laboratory as a director. The role requires Florida licensure or an equivalent Laboratory Director license, with fellowship training welcomed.

You will guide testing quality and compliance across departments, and mentor residents and fellows. Qualified candidates will have strong expertise in general laboratory medicine, regulatory standards, and patient-focused

Qualifications

• Board-certified in Clinical Pathology or subspecialty; fellowship training acceptable.
• Licensed to practice medicine in Florida or hold Florida Laboratory Director license.
• Strong knowledge of general and subspecialty laboratory medicine.

Responsibilities

• Follow CLIA, ensure quality across preanalytic, analytic and postanalytic stages.
• Ensure laboratory testing systems are safe and appropriate for patients.
• Provide day-to-day supervision for high-complexity testing personnel.
• Maintain trained, qualified personnel and proper supervision.
• Maintain and update the procedure manual; ensure accreditation readiness.
• Participate in residents/fellows education within clinical pathology.
• Contribute to Diagnostic Management Teams and scholarly activities.
• Be available for on-site or consultative support as needed.
• Lead quality improvement initiatives and regulatory compliance efforts.
• Ensure safe handling of hazardous materials and universal precautions.
