Seminole State College of Florida is seeking an innovative and collaborative Academic Dean to lead the Center for Computer, Digital Media & Information Technology
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced academic leader to shape programs that prepare students for evolving careers in technology, digital media, transportation, and the creative industries.
The Academic Dean provides strategic and operational leadership for the Center’s academic programs, including Automotive Technology, Information Technology, Digital Media, and TV/Digital Cinema. The Dean works closely with faculty, staff, students, college leadership, industry partners, universities, and other community stakeholders to strengthen academic programs, support student success, and ensure programs remain responsive to workforce and industry needs.
The ideal candidate will be a collaborative leader who brings a passion for innovation, student success, and academic excellence, along with experience in one or more of the Center’s disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for the Center’s academic programs and ensure alignment with the College’s mission, strategic priorities, accreditation standards, and state and federal requirements.
- Lead curriculum development and program improvement initiatives that respond to student needs, emerging technologies, industry trends, and workforce demands.
- Recruit, lead, develop, and evaluate faculty and staff while fostering a collaborative culture focused on innovation, professional growth, and student success.
- Partner with faculty and college leadership on enrollment planning, course scheduling, program review, and strategies that support student access and completion.
- Monitor program performance and student learning outcomes and use data to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with industry, university, high school, and community partners to strengthen academic programs and create opportunities for students.
- Lead and support grant development and manage Center resources and budgets in alignment with institutional priorities.
- Ensure effective oversight of instructional facilities, equipment, safety, and other operational needs.
- Support resolution of academic, faculty, staff, and student concerns and foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Serve as an advocate for the Center and its programs across the College and within the broader community.
- Maintain knowledge of collective bargaining requirements, applicable laws and regulations, accreditation standards, and higher education trends.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution in or related to one of the Center’s disciplines.
- Three years of leadership experience in a college or university or an industry training/professional development setting.
- Professional experience in one or more of the following areas: Automotive Technology, Information Technology, Digital Media, or TV/Digital Cinema.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctoral degree from an accredited institution.
- Postsecondary teaching experience in one of the Center’s disciplines.

Work Environment & Schedule
This position works across office, classroom, and field environments and may require travel between College campuses and local partner locations. Flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, are required. Occasional overnight travel may also be necessary.
