UC San Diego is seeking Academic Chemical Pathologists to join the Division of Laboratory and Genomic Medicine. The positions will serve as Associate Directors of the Clinical Chemistry Laboratories at CALM and Jacobs Medical Center in La Jolla, and at UC San Diego Medical Center in Hillcrest.

Qualifications

• MD or equivalent degree in the biological sciences, chemistry, biochemistry/molecular biology, experimental pathology, immunology, or related field.
• MD or equivalent must be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit.
• Board-eligible or certified by ABPath in CP or AP/CP.
• Licensed physicians with current primary board certification from another ABMS-approved specialty must have completed fellowship training in chemical pathology or clinical chemistry.

Responsibilities

• Provide physician interpretations of diagnostic tests and pathology clinical consultations with written report sign-outs.
• Medical and technical supervision of laboratory operations across UC San Diego Health sites.
• Assist directors with quality/regulatory management, new test development, instrument validations, and performance improvement initiatives.
• Teach medical students, residents, and fellows within our clinical chemistry training program.

Fellowship training in chemical pathology or clinical chemistry (if licensed with another ABMS specialty)
