Job description

Carnegie Mellon University is a private, global research university renowned for its innovation and excellence. The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) is seeking an Academic Advisor to support undergraduate and M.S. students. This role involves providing academic advising, counseling, and student life support, crucial for the development of ECE's academic programs.

Responsibilities:

  1. Monitor student progress and certify graduation readiness each semester.
  2. Manage student records, course schedules, and related documentation in collaboration with the HUB/University Registrar's Office.
  3. Provide students with information on department and university course requirements, policies, and resources.
  4. Coordinate support with faculty advisors and advising leadership.
  5. Work with the Office of International Education on international student issues and immigration requests.
  6. Participate in departmental, college, and university meetings to stay informed and share best practices.
  7. Engage in department and college events such as orientation, student sessions, and diploma ceremonies.
  8. Maintain and update departmental web pages and resources.
  9. Assist in selecting recipients for student awards.
  10. Contribute to reporting efforts for internal and external use.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
