Job summary

Salem State University is seeking an Academic Advisor to support student success through academic planning, advising, and counseling. The role involves collaboration with multiple university stakeholders, retention efforts, and guidance on educational goals and resources.

Qualifications include at least two years of higher education advising experience, knowledge of student developmental challenges, and proficiency with MS Office, PeopleSoft, Navigate 360, Canvas, and OnBase.

Description

Academic Advising provides the foundation upon which a student develops his or her academic plan. The academic advisor will assist the director of academic advising in all aspects of advising, including retaining students, clarifying educational goals, planning academic coursework, providing additional campus resources and understanding university policies. Academic advisors collaborate with other administrators, faculty chairs, and faculty advisors in support of student success. This position provides academic, financial aid, and career counseling to students, guiding them in the development of their academic, career and life goals.

Please Note: This is a grant-funded position and continued employment is contingent upon ongoing grant funding.

Working Location

This is an onsitepositionin Salem, MA with on-campus, in-person responsibilities,which may require occasional work on evenings and weekends.

Employment is contingent upon a completed background and CORI check satisfactory to the university.
