Position Summary
The Academic Advisor works collaboratively with the Associate Dean of the School of Professional Studies to advance institutionalgoals related to student success, retention, and persistence. Therole provides proactive academic advising through the management ofa caseload of students, supporting informed decision-making,academic progress, and successful transitions. As an advocate forstudents, the Academic Advisor actively contributes touniversity-wide retention and graduation initiatives and maintainsa specific programmatic focus to address the needs of IntegratedStudies ( IGS ) students, Selected Studies students, and otherAcademic Momentum related initiatives. This position is an 11-monthobligation: August 1 to June 30, annually.

Academic Advising & Student Success
- Proactively advise a caseload of Integrated Studies ( IGS ) andSelected Studies students.
- Serve as a resource to IGS and Selected Studies students inunderstanding university policies, procedures, academicrequirements, and degree progress to support retention and degreecompletion.
- Maintain accurate advising records and communicate proactivelywith students to support informed decision-making.
- Support diverse student populations by connecting students withthe appropriate resources.
- Assist students with academic planning, course selection,graduation planning, and completion of university processes andrequirements.
- Interpret and communicate academic policies, procedures, andcurriculum requirements to students and other constituents.
Academic Planning, Enrollment Analysis & Program Support
- Collaborate with the Associate Dean of the School ofProfessional Studies in analyzing enrollment trends, evaluatingtransfer credits, and supporting IGS and Selected Studies planningactivities.
- Assist with assessment, reporting, and data collectionactivities to support program improvement and strategicdecision-making.
- Work with Advisement and Transition to evaluate transfercoursework to determine applicability toward degree requirements inaccordance with institutional policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with faculty, academic departments, and studentsupport offices to address student needs and facilitate academicsuccess.
Student Retention, Intervention & Case Management
- Utilize student information systems, degree audit tools, andadvising technologies to track student progress, identify at-riskstudents, and implement timely interventions.
- Monitor student success indicators and conduct outreach tostudents experiencing academic, personal, or enrollment-relatedchallenges to promote persistence and retention.
Advising Resources & Applied Learning Coordination
- Create advising materials for IGS and Selected Studiesstudents.
- Coordinate applied learning experiences for IGS and SelectedStudies students to support fulfillment of academic programrequirements and achievement of learning outcomes.
Functional and Supervisory Relationships
- Reports directly to the Associate Dean of the School ofProfessional Studies
- Works with multiple offices and personnel to support thedelivery of IGS and Selected Studies courses
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience providing academic advising, student supportservices, student success programming, case management, or relatedstudent-centered services.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in higher education, counseling, or relatedfield.
- One-year professional full-time experience in higher education,preferably in academic advising, student success, or other studentsupport services.
- Experience utilizing student information systems, degree auditsoftware, case management systems, or early alerttechnologies.
- Experience interpreting university policies, transfer creditevaluations, degree requirements, or curriculum information.
- Experience working with diverse student populations in acollege or university setting.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to communicate complex academic information, policies,and procedures clearly and effectively to students, faculty, staff,and other constituents.
- Ability to use a case-management approach to monitor progress,identify challenges or risk factors, and implement timely outreachand support strategies.
- Effective interpersonal and relationship-building skills, withthe ability to engage students individually and collaborate withfaculty, staff, and campus partners.
- Ability to effectively utilize student information systems,degree audit tools, case management platforms, and othertechnologies to support advising, documentation, and studentsuccess initiatives.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with theability to manage multiple responsibilities, programs, anddeadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, andconfidentiality, and to work collaboratively within a team whileadvocating student needs within institutional policies.
- Knowledge of academic advising principles, student developmenttheory, and student success practices.
- Ability to interpret academic requirements, evaluateinformation, and assist students in developing academic planstoward degree completion.
- Ability to analyze student, enrollment, and advising-relateddata to support recommendations, planning, and continuousimprovement efforts.
- Ability to work effectively across differences and fosterinclusive engagement.
- Ability and willingness to work occasional evening and weekendhours.
