Job summary

KION Group is seeking an ABU Project Engineer to support STILL and Linde, optimizing customer material flows. The role is home-based with travel across the UK&I and Europe for training and site visits.

Responsibilities include bid management, technical validation, and development of logistics concepts for AGV/AMR implementations, with strong emphasis on risk management and customer collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor, Master or Diploma in engineering, computer science, logistics or similar.
• IT skills including Autocad and MS Project.
• Interest in complex technical interrelations and logistics projects.
• Good communication in English; travel willingness.

Responsibilities

• Support Sales in the offer phase, validate budgets and project scope.
• Ensure specifications and configurations match customer needs.
• Develop logistics concepts to set up AGV/AMR/VNA solutions.
• Manage risk, prepare escalation reporting for leadership.
• Analyze end-to-end processes for complex solution requirements.
• Coordinate bid process with internal resources and deadlines.
• Organise bid kick-off meetings and assist post-sale projects.
• Provide technical support on AGV/AMR projects for STILL & Linde.
• Coordinate with customers on technical offers and factory requirements.

Job description

The ABU Project Engineer will work with the ABU Sales Managers to help our customers to optimise their in-house material flows to achieve major cost savings. Whilst based from home, this role will require a high degree of autonomy and travel, mainly in the UK&I but with some European travel for training and to visit factories and reference sites.

We offer:

Accountable for the Portfolio of Projects in the UK&I for STILL and Linde (use of internal reporting tools; eg. Sharepoint, VNAP, SAP)

Engineering & Design

• Support Sales in the offer phase. This includes the validation of the budget cost of PMs, Planner, Simulations, the planning proposed by Sales & SD and review of the scope of the project
• Ensure specifications and configurations match customer needs for a successful implementation of an offering
• Development of customers’ and application specific logistic concepts to set up automated guided vehicles (AGV), AMR, VNA and any KION Automated solution
• Focus on risk and opportunity management and mitigation plans. Prepare escalation reporting and decision papers to the Sales Directors & Leadership Team
• Analysis and planning of the end to end processes in consideration of complex solution requirements (Product- and service requests)

Communication skills

• Co-ordinate and project manage all parties involved in the bid process to ensure everyone is aware of the level of contribution expected of them and the set deadlines - Liaising with wide variety of internal resources in order to collate relevant information to ensure a high-quality bid.
• Organise and attend bid kick off meetings (handover to Project management & customer realisation)
• Supporting Project Managers post sale
• Technical support of our Logistic-Distribution Engineers regarding AGV / AMR projects for STILL & Linde
• Elaboration and mentoring of the coordination with customers regarding technical and final offers
• Liaising with the factory on special requirements and applications

Market survey

• Develop win themes and USPs
• Conduct local area research, develop competitor intelligence and market analysis
• Supporting proof of concept demonstrations

Safety & regulations

• Work with and understand all relevant regulations and ensuring all HSE requirements are met within the proposal

Tasks and Qualifications:

• Bachelor, Master or Diploma degree in engineering, computer science, logistics or similar education. A candidate with the relevant industry experience would be considered
• IT Skill required including Autocad / MS Project
• Interest in complex technical interrelations
• Experience with industrial or logistic projects preferred
• Good communication skills in English, further languages preferred
• Willingness to travel
