Key Responsibilities (list 5-8):
1. Accurately abstract information from service documentation, assign and sequence appropriate CPT, ICD-9/10, and HCPCS codes into billing systems, ensuring compliance with guidelines.
2. Communicate professionally with providers, practice management, and stakeholders, either verbally or in writing.
3. Work on coding encounters in the work queue or task lists in a timely manner.
4. Meet or exceed organizational coding production and quality standards.
5. Stay current with coding updates and regulatory changes, such as NCCI and MUE edits.
6. Review and resolve coding denials.
7. Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements / Qualifications
Education/Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year physician coding experience preferred.
  • Previous Electronic Health Record experience preferred.
License/Certification:
  • Coding Certification through AHIMA (CCS or CCS-P) or AAPC (CPC) required.
  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training within three months of hire.
