Job summary

CTR Group is hiring 50 experienced abrasive blasters for a long-term project at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine. The role is on-site with an ASAP start, requiring a Secret clearance and C7 certification preferred.

Candidates should have at least 2 years in shipyard or marine blasting and be mobilizable to Kittery within 2–3 weeks. Base pay is $28.00/hr plus $5.09/hr Health & Welfare, with a long-term contract opportunity.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of abrasive blasting experience in a shipyard, ship repair, naval, or marine environment.
• C7 certification preferred; CTR may provide training/certification for otherwise qualified candidates.
• Must be able to obtain DoD Secret security clearance.

• Perform abrasive blasting and surface preparation on naval vessels and shipboard components.
• Remove paint, rust, corrosion, scale, and other contaminants to prepare surfaces for coating applications.
• Operate abrasive blasting equipment and related tools in accordance with procedures.
• Inspect surfaces before and after blasting to ensure proper preparation.
• Follow shipyard safety, environmental, and project-specific procedures.

CTR Group is currently hiring 50 experienced Abrasive Blasters for a long-term project at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine.

Compensation

Responsibilities

• Perform abrasive blasting and surface preparation on naval vessels and shipboard components.
• Remove paint, rust, corrosion, scale, and other contaminants to prepare surfaces for coating applications.
• Operate abrasive blasting equipment and associated tools in accordance with established procedures.
• Inspect surfaces before and after blasting to ensure proper preparation.
• Work in confined spaces, tanks, compartments, and other shipboard areas as required.
• Set up and maintain blasting equipment, hoses, containment, and related equipment.
• Follow all shipyard, safety, environmental, and project-specific procedures.
• Properly use required PPE and respiratory protection.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Work effectively as part of a shipyard production team while meeting project schedules and quality requirements.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of abrasive blasting experience in a shipyard, ship repair, naval, or marine environment.
• C7 certification preferred. CTR may provide C7 training/certification for otherwise qualified candidates.
• Must have, or be eligible to obtain, the required DoD Secret security clearance.
• Must be able to complete security clearance paperwork promptly and accurately.
• Must be physically capable of performing strenuous work in confined spaces and shipboard environments.
• Must be willing and able to mobilize to Kittery, Maine within approximately 2–3 weeks.
• Must be able to follow safety procedures and work effectively in a physically demanding shipyard environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Priority will be given to candidates with:

• Current C7 certification
• Active Secret security clearance
• Prior naval shipyard or ship repair experience
• Experience with abrasive blasting aboard naval vessels
• Experience working in confined spaces and shipboard environments
