Job summary

UnityPoint Health in Cedar Rapids is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at the Abbe Center for Community Mental Health in Cedar Rapids. You will support providers, perform patient rooming, vital signs, and basic procedures in a fast-paced behavioral health clinic.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program (Certificate, diploma, or Associate’s Degree) required.
• Previous clinical experience in a medical office preferred.
• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant through a recognized certifying organization.
• Certified Basic Life Support required within 30 days of hire.
• IA/IL Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training within 90 days of hire.
• IA/IL Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers and clinical staff with patient rooming, exams, treatments, and minor procedures.
• Obtain patient history and review of systems; measure and document vital signs.
• Accurately document all care in the EMR using standardized workflows.
• Perform specimen collection, including blood draws, and prepare samples for lab analysis.
• Carry out provider orders within scope of licensure, including administering medications.
• Schedule referrals and complete required forms, requisitions, and CPT/ICD-10 coding.
• Provide patient and family education as directed by the provider.
• Maintain compliance with CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA, and organizational policies.
• Participate in team communications and meetings; demonstrate professionalism and customer service.

• Schedule referrals and complete required forms, requisitions, andappropriate CPT/ICD-10coding
• Provide patient and family education as directed by the provider
• Interpret lab and procedure results within scope and takeappropriate nextsteps
• Maintain compliance with CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA, and organizational policies
• Participate in team communications and meetings;demonstrateprofessionalism, reliability, and strong customer service

Qualifications

Education:

• Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Assistants (Certificate, diploma, orAssociate’s Degree) required.

Experience:
