Job summary

Manhattan Children’s Center seeks a positive, dynamic Support Staff member to join a therapeutic team focused on helping students with autism realize their potential. You will directly teach skills, collect data, and support classroom activities within a collaborative environment.

Hours are Mon-Thurs 8:15am-4:15pm; Fri 8:15am-3:00pm, based in Manhattan, NY. Salary is $40,500 per year with generous benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; Associate degree preferred.
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
• Energetic, can-do attitude and ability to collaborate with teachers and staff.

Responsibilities

• Direct teaching of skills to students and data collection on responses.
• Float through different classrooms based on program needs.
• Daily graphing and analysis of data for multiple students and learning trends.
• Maintain and promote generalization of learned skills.
• Follow students’ behavior plans and report observations to teachers.
• Provide feedback on social skills opportunities and parent concerns.
• Prepare and organize teaching materials daily.
• Engage in CPI holds/techniques to deescalate students when trained.
• Complete other classroom duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher.

Your Impact Here at MCC

• Direct teaching of skills to students and data collection on responses

• Maintaining and promoting the generalization of learned skills
• Following students’ behavior intervention plans and reporting all observations of student behavior to the teacher
• Providing feedback and data to the teacher regarding social skills opportunities and parent concerns
• Preparing and organizing teaching materials and teaching settings daily
• Engage and use Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) holds/transport or disengagement tactics for students during behavioral episodes. This may mean physically intervening after being trained thoroughly, to help deescalate children when they become a danger to themselves or others.
• Completing other classroom duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher

Requirements
